About EANM
Membership Benefits
Annual Congress
The annual congress has become a forum for scientific exchange as well as for business and personal networking, attracting an average of 4,200 participants. The congress is well established and recognised by colleagues and is seen by industry as the foremost marketplace for nuclear medicine products throughout Europe. The congress offers a complete spectrum of the state-of-the-art scientific sessions by featuring 9 plenary lectures, including the Marie Curie Lecture, full paper sessions where the most relevant advances in the field during the past year are presented, the summarising Highlights Lecture, symposia/debates, a full CME programme and a self-contained technologists’ continuing education section.

EANM members receive a significant reduction on the registration fee for the annual congress.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)
One of the EANM‘s main goals is to deliver outstanding educational opportunities to its membership. To this end, all educational activities of the association are contained within the European School of Nuclear Medicine (ESNM), which is responsible for a full programme of CMEs at the annual congress, a variety of courses at the EANM Educational Facility and seminars in Central & Eastern Europe.

All educational activities of the EANM are accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME). By virtue of a reciprocal agreement between EACCME and the American Medical Association (AMA), the credits granted by EACCME are recognised as the Physician‘s Recognition Award by the AMA.

EANM members receive significant reductions on all educational activities offered by the EANM.

Scientific Journal
Members receive the official journal of the association, the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI), on a monthly basis, plus two supplements per year (one is the abstract book of the congress, and the other features a special topic). EANM members also have access to Springer’s electronic link system through the members‘ area on the EANM website. As of 2007, an EANM agreement with the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine provides reciprocal electronic access for members of both societies to both journals.

The aim of the EJNMMI is to provide a forum for the exchange of clinical and scientific information for the nuclear medicine community and allied professions involved in the functional, metabolic and molecular investigation of disease. The EJNMMI is of primary interest to those practising in the field of nuclear medicine but also reports on original work relating to physics, dosimetry, radiation biology, computer science, radiochemistry and pharmacy. Furthermore, the journal publishes in-depth reviews of topical interest, editorial commentaries, occasional surveys, short communications and correspondence. The journal also includes a section featuring the Society News of the EANM.

EANM members receive the official journal of the association.

Website
The EANM website www.eanm.org is the premier source of information about the association and serves as the communication platform for nuclear medicine in Europe. Among other items, it features information on the organisation in general, the educational programmes of the European School of Nuclear Medicine, news on the activities of the Committees, scientific information such as guidelines, a job area, EU news and a calendar of events (with the options of online event accouncement and application for EANM auspices). All activities regarding congress participation (abstract submission, registration, hotel reservation etc.) are conducted online via the website. A Members‘ Area with access only for EANM members includes, for example, a ”search for member“ function, an electronic link to the fulltext version of the EJNMMI and latest documents for members. With the 2008 membership renewal process, EANM members can pay their membership fee via an ePayment system also accessible in the closed members‘ area.

EANM members receive access to the closed members‘ area of the website.

Representation of interests towards the EU, Governmental Agencies and Other Medical Societies
Due to its broad membership base, its strong networking contacts, its professional organisation and its scientific strength, the EANM has become a central player in representing the interests of European nuclear medicine towards the EU, governmental agencies and other medical societies.

Since 2006, the EANM has been continuously represented in Brussels via a public affairs agency. This agency monitors legislative and political developments at the EU, as well as funding opportunities, and reports items of interest back to the EANM. Subsequently the information is channeled to the appropriate EANM bodies and brought to the membership via the EU news section of the website. In the context of representing the interests of European nuclear medicine towards the European institutions, the EANM is filed as member of the EU Health Forum (Open Forum and the Health Policy Forum) as well as of the FP7 Experts Management Module (EMM) database.

EANM members benefit from the representation their of interests within both the EU and the worldwide network.

E-Newsletters
In order to distribute relevant information rapidly to the membership, e-newsletters are dispatched regularly. Attention is drawn to new features of the website, to updates on the congress and educational activities, and to items of interest regarding EU policies and much more.

EANM members receive regular updates on global news.

Grants
The EANM provides 10 grants per year for the purpose of promoting young scientific talent among the EANM membership. On the one hand, five grants of € 1,000.- each are awarded to cover the expenses of young EANM members who seek short-term training in a recognised and competent European training centre (Marie Curie Training Grant). On the other hand, five grants of € 1,000.- each are awarded to support the participation of young authors of good quality abstracts accepted for presentation at the annual EANM Congress (Marie Curie Congress Grant).

EANM membership is a major eligibility criterion for grant application.
