Oncology Prostate cancer (Basic) Track
Prostate cancer is the most frequent tumor found in men worldwide. Although it usually has an indolent course, it remains one of the leading causes of death in men. Fortunately, the identification and characterization of the disease has become increasingly precise, mainly due to improved risk stratification, emergence of biomarkers and of course the rapid advances in diagnostic imaging.
Regarding the latest, it is overwhelming the increasing use of new PET tracers for this purpose, mainly PSMA based. Therefore, we feel that it is timely to provide this level 2 course in “title pending”, for all of those imaging specialist (Radiologists and Nuclear Medicine physicians) and clinicians interested/working in this field.
The goal of this track is to provide a very practical course (with case reports and hands-on-sessions), with some supporting theoretical lectures, all delivered by experts in the field.
Participants will learn the most relevant information from the latest clinical guidelines. Furthermore, special attention will be focused on how to report PET scans in prostate cancer, according to the recently published / to be published EANM Guidelines, giving most of the emphasis to PSMA. Also, participants will learn some tips and tricks on how to detect / avoid pitfalls with these tracers.
Finally, considering the spread of PRRT in metastatic prostate cancer, students will learn and put to practice the means on how to interpret pre-therapy scans and to understand which information is needed to enroll a patient for this treatment.
