This advanced course is focused on imaging infection with radio-labelled white blood cell (WBC). A special attention is given to the labelling procedure and quality controls for WBC scintigraphy that is the nuclear medicine gold standard modality when an infection is suspected.

In addition to cell labelling method, the facilitators will follow 4 different patients in real time as for their preparation, cell labelling, image acquisition and interpretation protocols as well as in-vivo quality controls.

Pitfalls and regulatory aspects will be covered as well in this course.

  • WBCs labelling methods (leukokit vs open procedure), regulations and QCs
  • WBCs protocols for image acquisition
  • Interpretation of the scans
  • How to resolve pitfalls
  • Procedures for validation and annual revalidation (filling Standard Operator Procedures forms)

The target audience includes Nuclear Medicine physicians involved in the field of infective diseases.
